Going to restaurants and cafes reminded me of a long-forgotten family dynamic: being cared for through food. it didn’t take me too long to realize that it wasn’t the healthiest way to deal with my loneliness, or my wallet.
but it became the catalyst for a consistent art practice, which is something i never thought was possible..
The restaurant project is an ongoing illustrated series exploring food, place, and memory. It includes commissioned pieces for local restaurants including Maru Japanese Bistro, where the artwork is permanently displayed.
